As we creak on through the rain
And there's that old orange crate that we used to play on

We start a'shuffling cards for five stud poker
Our hands are lit by an oil lamp stoker

I soon get sleepy and look around
For a spot to settle down
To snooze awhile before the norming light's a 'dawning
But there appears a guard in the doorway standing
Down from the roof with his shotgun staring
To make us leave the bare, bare boards of home
So they'll all come to see me
By the campfire near that old oak tree
